Tree buds are by far the best way to start your journey in winter tree identification. However, the first steps can be a bit difficult! In order to help speed up your learning, we’ve designed these detailed guide sheets on some of the most common tree buds in Eastern North America.*
The guide contains 4 lightweight laminated sheets so it won’t add much weight to your pack to take it with you on a hike!
*Note: the photography for this guide was taken from trees in North Alabama. The species are most relevant to Eastern North America, but some species/genus overlap exists for other parts of the world.
