This November instead of having our typical species walks we are going to mix things up a bit! The North Alabama Foraging club will be hosting its very first I.D. Invasion. This will be very similar to a BioBlitz or foray if you’ve been to one in the past, but if not, it will generally work like this:
We will meet as a group in a common starting location to discuss the nature of the event. Then we’ll also go out for about an hour or so looking for any plant/mushroom that might catch our eye. We’ll gather specimens and then take them all back to our starting location and then try to identify as many as we can! It’s a really great way to see just how much is out there and learn a bunch of new species.
You are encouraged to bring your favorite identification books, a foraging basket as well as tin foil/parchment paper in order to keep specimens separated. We are very much looking forward to seeing you there!
