The Alabama Foraging Club is excited to announce a foraging walk, led by Spencer Lowery, a mushroom enthusiast and the treasurer of the Alabama Mushroom Society. Spencer has been a mushroom enthusiast/forager for over 6 years. This walk promises to be a deep dive into the world of fungi, but that’s not all! The journey also covers an array of local plants, enhancing our understanding of the local ecosystem.
Walk Details: – The walk commences at 10 am sharp! Please arrive a bit earlier to get settled. – Each walk will last approximately 2 hours. – Don’t forget to wear appropriate footwear and bring along water, a snack, and a bag or basket for your finds!
Learning Experience: – Familiarize yourself with various species of mushrooms and their roles in our ecosystem. – Learn basic foraging skills and how to identify edible fungi and plants. – Gain insights into the importance of local plants and mushrooms in our biodiversity. Whether you’re an experienced forager, a mycology enthusiast, or just curious about local flora and fungi, you’re welcome to join us. This walk offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in nature, meet other foraging enthusiasts, and learn together.
