DESCRIPTION:Join expert mushroom identifier Alisha Millican on a hike across one of her favorite foraging locations. Find and learn to identify some highly sought-after mushrooms. Group size will be limited to ensure that everyone goes home with some mushrooms to eat! \nSome fungi we are likely to find include: \n\nVoluminous Milkcap (Lactifluus volumus)\nChanterelles (Cantharellus species)\nLilac Bolete – (Boletus separans)\nLobster Mushrooms (Hypomyces lactiflorum)\nThe Sour Gold Pored Bolete (Aureoboletus auriporus)\nOld Man of the Woods (Strobilomyces species)\nCrown Tipped Coral (Artomyces pyxidatus)\nand more!\n\nThe foray will last 2-3 hours\, depending on the heat. Cost is $10 per person. You can pay here directly\, or if you’d like to pay in cash\, please choose the ‘RSVP’ option. Group size will be limited to 15 individuals\, so grab your spot quickly! We will begin at 10:00 am to try to avoid the heat. \nThis event will take place at a location in Cullman County\, Alabama. SUMMARY:NAFC | Rainbow Mountain I.D. Invasion
DESCRIPTION:This November instead of having our typical species walks we are going to mix things up a bit! The North Alabama Foraging club will be hosting its very first I.D. Invasion. This will be very similar to a BioBlitz or foray if you’ve been to one in the past\, but if not\, it will generally work like this: \nWe will meet as a group in a common starting location to discuss the nature of the event. Then we’ll also go out for about an hour or so looking for any plant/mushroom that might catch our eye. We’ll gather specimens and then take them all back to our starting location and then try to identify as many as we can! It’s a really great way to see just how much is out there and learn a bunch of new species. \nYou are encouraged to bring your favorite identification books\, a foraging basket as well as tin foil/parchment paper in order to keep specimens separated. We are very much looking forward to seeing you there!
